It was our last school wide assembly for the year. At each assembly we come together as a school to share our success, our growth and our learning. Teachers and students work together to prepare a song, skit, or performance to showcase their work.
In our second grade classroom we wanted to showcase the school wide virtues to help the younger students or anyone in our school know how to show our virtues daily. We decided to make a Public Service Announcement with iMovie to show both Curiosity and Perseverance. We were going to make a movie for the school to see!
Students created posters with their own quotes and images that would help others to know how they can show curiosity and perseverance. For example, some read "fall down, get right back up" or "answers lead to more questions." These were their ideas and their way of showing the school virtues each and every day.
We then decided to film short clips outside, inside and around the school that would help show the sayings we had on our posters. Students decided where they wanted to be filmed and what action they wanted to do in the short clip. Students climbed up the rock climbing wall, fell down and got back up, and smiled through the clips. Then, we used a voice over insert and students read their posters over the clip.
We were ready for the school to see our Public Service Announcements. We were all so excited and proud of the work we had done. This was our first movie and it was an important one! After the two movies everyone in the audience was cheering and clapping for us. This was the best day ever!
