My Best Day

So many stories come to mind when I think of best days. I recently had a former student come back and visit me. He had been a trying student while in my class, very capable but rarely motivated. After passing his end of course exam and moving on to high school geometry, he came back to see me - his middle school Algebra teacher. In the most respectful and gracious way, he told me of how he missed my class dearly and wished he had paid more attention and took advantage of my teaching. He apologized for "being a pain" in my class and told my current students to not take my class for granted. This young man's visit reminded me that every middle schooler needs the chance to grow up and mature into a better version of themselves.
