Best Day in Education
I have had so many great days in education, but I would have to say that a few really stand out! The one was at the end of a very trying year, I co-taught a class with a special education teacher. We were teaching a business careers class, teaching special education students some basic career skills in order to be successful in life after high school graduation. We took these students on many field trips, brought in speakers, and we tried to make the class as hands-on as possible for these students. The final week of school, the students were to volunteer at the local Special Olympics with a snow cone machine and prepare snow cones, free of charge, for all the athletes, volunteers and spectators at the special olympics, they rose to the occasion and did the best job! We got compliments for weeks and months afterwards, the students did such a great job, they were professional, polite, helpful, engaging and spoke to everyone! They all came back and said they had the best time and wanted to do it again! The following year we went back to the special olympics and we did other volunteering events throughout the year! All the hard work paid off!
