As an elementary teacher I get to experience many wonderful educational moments but
my favorite day of the year, by far, takes place during Right-to-Read(RTR) Week when
classes get to read in a themed reading space. Each year our RTR committee selects a
theme and plans a weeks worth of themed activities that celebrate reading. The committee
works together to transform one of the classrooms into a special reading environment that
fits the theme of the week. So far we have created Seussville, Camp Read S’more and
a Kindness Meadow. It is so special to me because it is the perfect combination of all the
things I love: creativity, collaboration and reading! The students LOVE spending time in
the fantasy environment reading books that fit the theme of the week!

Our committee uses Pinterest for inspiration. We also got a lot of great ideas for
Camp Read S'more from the Library Patch blog.
