Best Day in Education

My best day as an educator was actually a field trip organized by our 7th grade Science department.  We were fortunate enough to take over 200 students to spend a day in the Mud Run Watershed.  Students examined the impact humans have on the environment and how local groups are working to restore some of our water sources.   Also, students spent half of the day in the creek identifying various plants and wildlife.  For several students, this was their first time being in a creek.  As a child, I spent a large amount of time outdoors and catching crayfish in various creeks.  It was exciting to see these kids experiencing this and taking part in a hands on learning experience at the same time.
