A Best Day In Education

“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.”

There are many good days being a 5th grade teacher. That being said, there are also many hard days. I try not to have any bad days, but instead think of them as hard days with learning lessons. My best day in education was the start of this school year. I have taught 5th grade for 8 years now. Which means my first group of students are now seniors in high school. To me this was an accomplishment for me to think about how far that my students have come. My first year teaching was my favorite year. I focused on relationships and I wasn't scared to try anything new and it was just fun!

For me to sit here 8 years later, it reminded me that I have a purpose for teaching. I am here to help my students achieve their goals, whatever it may be. It reminded me that I want to get back to the place of focusing on students relationships and having fun. I want my students schooling experience to be memorable in a positive way. I think of how much has changed in these years and how much my teaching has changed. It has made me reflect a lot on many things and I am thankful for it.

This whole year has been difficult for many of us. But it has also had me anxious with excitement because come June my first group will be graduating. And that is a feeling that is unexplainable. During this pandemic there are many things to complain about. Although I am also thankful, because I have moved away from my first teaching location. Therefore I can now watch them all graduate via Zoom, and for that I am ever grateful.
