A Best Day in Education

The best day in education happened recently in a science presentation we had come to our school, special for the fourth-grade students. The science presentation was centered around using energy in our everyday lives. As the science teacher, I had been preparing for the science presentation by introducing various energy terms such as kinetic and potential energy, forms of energy, and energy transfer.

The day of the presentation arrived, and the students were so excited to learn more about energy. Throughout the presentation, the presenter asked several questions based on his demonstrations. I was so impressed to observe how many of my students were able to use the scientific terms learned in the classroom in their responses. When it came time for the experiment at the end of the presentation, the students successfully described the transfer of energy from the marbles into the Jenga blocks. At the end of the presentation, the presenter came up to me and said how impressed he was and how knowledgable the students were.

The next week, students used what they learned to create a marble run on our wall! Students had so much fun building and tinkering using their knowledge of energy! It just goes to show, hard work and dedication pays off!
